You may have noticed people with an unusual shape of an eye, it is because they are suffering from a
very rare disorder. Such rare disorders are treated with the help of A-scan. A-scan is not just restricted
for this purpose, but it is also done to detect various other eye problems. Basically, just as the name
suggests A-scan, is used as a scanner for the eyes, it scans the length of the eye, giving the doctor exact
measurements. After conducting a scan, the eye specialist recommends the type of lenses that would
suit your eyes the best.
ILO Master is just like A-scan but is useful in a surgical procedure such as cataract surgery. It measures the length of an eye along with the surface curvature. The main reason for using this test is because before conducting a surgery, it is very important to have a clear picture of what the eye looks like. It is highly popular for its quick and authentic results.
The process of conducting A-scan and ILO Master
Both these tests are quite similar in nature, just one of them figures more information than the other.
There’s no need for anesthesia because both of these tests are non-invasive and non-contact. So, you
can get this test done anytime because you’ll be asked to sit on a chair to perform the test. You’ll have
to place your chin resting on the machine and then look straight into it. If you feel uncomfortable, then
you can ask the doctor to lay you down.
The same procedure would be followed but a cup of fluid will be placed on your eyes and then it would contact the machine. Some doctors suggest the patient spend the next 30 minutes in the hospital, so the patient is able to recover easily after the medicine which has been given for numbing.
